What is non-invasive laser resurfacing?
Laser treatments at Dr. Alan Serure’s plastic surgery practice in Miami can address a wide range of skin concerns. The most common issue is deep to moderately deep facial wrinkles. With the use of intense beams of laser light, the skin may be resurfaced, regenerating new collagen.
How do laser resurfacing treatments work?
Before your laser treatment, we may recommend a skincare regimen to prepare the skin. During a laser treatment session, a topical anesthetic will be applied to numb the treatment area. For more extensive, deeper resurfacing, a mild sedative or intravenous sedation will be administered.
The type of laser utilized depends on specific concerns. A CO2 laser delivers powerful pulses of energy to precisely remove the top layer of skin and help regenerate collagen. This is ideal for moderately deep to deeper wrinkles and sun damage. A single non-invasive laser session can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

DEKA CO2 Laser
This cutting-edge CO2 laser is renowned for its versatility and precision in skin resurfacing. Traditionally, CO2 lasers have been the gold standard for addressing various skin imperfections and resurfacing. Thermage®
Thermage® is a radio frequency treatment performed in our office with no downtime. Thermage®works by remodeling the collagen in the skin. Doing so tightens the skin. Side effects include moderate pain, redness, and swelling. Patients may resume normal activities immediately.
SOFWAVE™
Sofwave™ is a clinically proven, non-invasive approach to remodeling collagen, which improves facial lines and wrinkles and results in a lifting effect to the eyebrows, neck, and submental region. Using proprietary Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam SUPERB™ technology, ultrasound energy precisely passes through the skin’s surface (the epidermis), heating the mid-dermal tissue at just the precise depth and temperature to rejuvenate collagen fibers and improve the overall appearance of the skin. Most patients showed significant improvement after one treatment. FDA approved to treat facial lines and wrinkles and lift the eyebrows, submental, and neck. Non-surgical treatment with minimal downtime. 30–45-minute treatment.
What is the recovery after a laser treatment?
Afterward, you can expect some redness, swelling, and possibly some crusting or scabbing. Following a personalized post-treatment care plan, which may include specific cleansers, moisturizers, and sunscreen, is crucial for optimal healing. While healing time varies depending on the laser used and the depth of treatment, it typically takes several weeks to see the full results of your laser skin resurfacing treatment.
