What is a facelift (rhytidectomy)?
Would you like to turn back the clock 15 years, regaining a defined neck and jawline, softening features that make you appear older? All while preserving your essence, smile, and overall look?
Bespoke facelifting: an evolution of excellence!
Dr. Alan Serure’s experience spanning decades and thousands of facelifts, also known as Rhytidectomy, has led to a hybrid, modified deep plane platysmasty facelift. The operation has been developed over decades incorporating benefits of a deep plane muscle reinforcement in addition to the ideal vector skin draping. These are the foundations of a safe, natural long-lasting lift. Not too tight and certainly not too loose, Dr. Serure’s goal is to maintain your natural beauty, not to look like a different person.
Submental Lipectomy
Another critical component often incorporated in facelift surgeries is the removal of fat beneath the muscles of the chin and neck. These fatty deposits are referred to as “submental lipectomy”. Platysma fat removal is often overlooked. Platysma muscles are addressed, fatty deposits removed, and deep plane muscles are repaired.
Fat Grafting
Grafting is a useful adjunct. In many cases, small amounts of fat (a tablespoon) are grafted into the face and facial folds, nasolabial, and labiomental marionettes line, which run from your nose to your lip and from your lip down your chin. Fat is harvested from an inconspicuous area at the time of facial surgery is processed for optimal results and injected during the facelift procedure when needed to add balance and harmony. Although the fat take can be variable, fat grafting often diminishes the need for fillers in the future.
Who are the patients in Miami who will benefit from a facelift?
If you want to look younger, have a well-defined contour of your jaw and neck, you are a candidate for facelift surgery.
Very often, upper and lower eyelid surgery, referred to as Blepharoplasty, is combined with facelift procedures.
What is a facelift like for patients in Miami?
A facelift procedure takes approximately four hours and is performed in our state-of-the-art operating facility in Miami. You will have a board-certified MD anesthesiologist in attendance the entire time. Traditionally, incisions are hidden in the sideburn, inside the ear, and in the crease behind the ear and back into the hairline behind the ear.
The MIAMI LIFT: Minimal Incision And Maximum Impact® has been patented by Dr. Serure. This mini facelift operation utilizes fewer scars and if you are a candidate, will give you the optimal results with fewer visible incisions. This operation is also referred to as a short scar lift or a ponytail lift.
What is the recovery process after facelift surgery?
Sutures will be removed during the following two weeks. Patients should expect bruising and swelling, which should be resolved within the first few weeks. Patients may resume normal day-to-day activities for 2 to 3 weeks but avoid strenuous exercise for 4 weeks. Dr. Serure and our highly skilled staff will guide you through this process.
